i walk to the station to board a train to find a seat to rest my head. i tune out all these people. i stare through a dark window at the empty night. i find my bike. i take a train. i find my home. there is no one there. i hear neighbors through the walls. i hear a motorcycle charging a distant expressway. i lie down. i wake up confused. i start over.

the latest edition of heart beats weekly has three phases. the up, the descent, and the re-emergence: a sequence that reflects what’s going on in the background, as winter trickles off and spring begins. i was relieved for the change, but now i see a streak of water crawling down the wall from the ceiling. it’s pouring outside, heavy and steady. i’ve decided to give my landlord hell, but not just yet. going to try to keep the day mine.
